Our Philosophy

Good mental health is very valuable, when in balance it assists you to cope with the challenges that life presents and explore where meaning and of satisfaction lie for you. thinkerAt ROAM Communities we recognize that everyone is different. People don’t fit neatly into boxes and there is no single treatment formula that will suit everyone. Our success is based on our commitment to understanding each person's individual needs and circumstances, then tailoring a person centred, evidence-based approach.

Our mission is to provide high quality mental health care that promotes empowerment, enhances wellness and strengthens community. Our mental health nurses work closely with other professionals to provide quality comprehensive care. We collaborate with general practitioners, psychiatrists, specialists, allied health providers, and other professionals in the area to support your total health/wellness. Some services are provided on site by our associated clinicians and some are provided by direct referrals.


Our philosophy of care is centred on the ROAM principals and operate at both an idividual and community level as outlined below:

1) Recovery Through compassion and skilful intervention assisting individuals to move towards the health they need in order to lead satisfying and productive lives. Assisting communities in the process of recovery, by increasing awareness and raining mental health literacy through education.
2) Ownership Empowering patients to acknowledge, accept responsibility for their health. Working with communities to raise awareness and empathy towards people with severe mental illness.
3) Action Providing psychotherapy, physical health management, medication management, social advocacy and referral Leading communities by being active in development and delivery of innovative and effective programs for people with mental illness.
4) Management Specifically tailoring programs to address clients individual health needs within a supportive therapeutic community. Working with communities to evaluate programs and ensure actions taken in mental health service reform delivers real  justice and equity.
